This gift was made of pine. The plan for this rattle was mostly self-designed. I cut the circular ends and middle piece out on my router table. The outside cage pieces were made from 3/8 ” dowels. I drilled 7/16 ” holes half-way through the end pieces and completly through the middle piece. The blocks were cut from 2×4 scraps. I finished the project with non-toxic water paints and covered with non-toxic butcher block finish.

This is a delightful toy. Your granddaughter will not appreciate it now but I am sure that when she is older she will come to understand the true value of this gift. It is something that I am sure her children will be able to use as well.
