My stepmother teaches art at UW-Milwaukee and loves to entertain her grandchildren with various artsy activities. Having promised her the woodwork of her choice a number of years ago as a Christmas gift, and hearing her say she wanted one of these, I jumped at the chance to fulfill the promise. She sent me a link to an ad for one in an online storefront and I took it from there.

48” wide weaving area on both sides of the loom. The pegs extend on either side of the loom frame so she can easily get four kids on it if necessary. Adjustable in height so that they can work sitting on the floor, in a chair, or standing.

Got lucky on ebay cuz otherwise the 196 pegs I needed would have cost around $60 or so… Found lots of 100 1 3/4” long 3/16” steel pegs for $4. Drilling all the holes was a bit of drudgery but with some decent layout and setup on the drill press it wasn’t too bad.

Looking at the loom, one could probably do some nice stuff on it even if you were an adult :)

To be honest I have no idea what this is used for, I always thought a loom was some wheel baring thing. However, It’s awesome that you got to use something you love doing to make something for your family. I’m sure it will be cherished much more than anything she could have bought.
