Myrtle Rod Handle and ForeGrip

An excursion to Peeples Exotic Woods in Pensacola Florida ended with several turning blanks… one of which was a very interesting Myrtle. A few hours later this 18” (overall) rod handle, reel seat, fore grip set was being finished with several coats of Mohawk sanding sealer followed by some compounding wax, Mohawk Laquer and finally some carnauba wax. The grain and color shifted considerably but the final product was pleasing…..

Nice job on the Myrtle handle. You’ll get a lot of use of that one and appreciate it more because you made it yourself!! Thanks for sharing…..........Jim
