For my first real woodworking project, I made this crib for my newborn son. Actually, it took me nearly a year to complete in between all my other work, house projects, and life but he did sleep in it for his first birthday. Ha ha, my wife wouldn’t let me make another for our daughter, she got a store bought crib!
Anyway, this plan allows the front and back of the crib to be used as a headboard and footboard for a twin bed. But before this stage, I designed a new footboard that turns the crib into a daybed. It uses a 9” wide bottom rail raised just above the mattress to keep him from falling out.

Very nice! Amazing how long things take when dealing with work and other things thrown at you. Well done.

dpop, I really like this, it turned out great. I also like the idea of turning it into a day bed for your son.
