I’m making this as the title states for a retiring friend. It was supposed to resemble an old style blasting machine. I also wanted to experiment and see how long something like this would take to build. It went pretty fast, I still need to finish the inside, I;m planning to have a lift out tray in the top and just lining the drawer.
I used walnut for the body and cherry for the top, with a plunger handle made of sapelle. The drawer handle is paduak with an EOD badge. I’m planning to also add a small plaque to the front.

I was just going to ask if your friend was an ex-miner or demolitions man! Great concept!

I bet he’ll get a bang out of it. And I’m sure it was a blast to make.

Looks really nice. I think it would be even cooler if, when the plunger is pressed, it would start off the “Take this job and shove it….” song. But that’s just me….

I think it would look more realistic if you added the contacts for the wire hookup on the top. Other than that, excellent job.

BigTiny, I was going to put firing contacts on but I couldn’t find any brass or copper hardware at the stores here. I also considered making the handle neck square with gear teeth down the front but didn’t feel the trouble would add much in that reguard
