Having an old fence as Timer stock & some Mirror in the shed !
I have been looking forward to combining mosaiced mirror to these timbers .

Total Size 980mm x 480mm (19 1/8 x 38 2/8 )

Timber frame : once constructed I sanded with 80 & 240 grit, them sprayed the timber matt black, then sanded back again to hilight the grain texture .

Finishing stain : Gloss mahogany stain/laquer

Mirror Cutting
Being a novice at glass cutting I explored online sites for tricks & tips that helped make this wonderful project come to life !!!

Cutting the miror in those shapes was something I didnt think possible , but with my $12:oo glass cutter I managed to cut the entire panel of mirror without it breaking in the wrong places !!!

Good tips I picked up :

  1. Always cut glass/mirror when it is at Room Temprature ( ie cold glass = breakages)
  1. Cut glass on a Towel folded over double , this acts as a shock absorber when you insert presure on glass for the cut you want !!

Cutting those shapes was a challenge because I wasnt sure if the flow angles were too acute !! but it worked , I started in the corners & section by section , worked my way in .

I glued the mirror on with PVA glue after I sealed the MDF with primer then grouted it with Tile Grout.

I took a pic of back to show you all how the Mirrored MDF fits in the back .

Really happy with the way it came out & look forward to do again .

Thanks for having a look

Have a great day

Really cool. I love the mixing of media. This is a real, I need to do this moment. Just got to get it in line with all the others. Thanks for posting. Now that you mention it, I do have a mirror out in the barn. Trouble is, I’m missing a section of beveled edge.
