Well it was time for a new E-center/TV Stand for the house. Made a trip to the lumber yard and found a whole stack of hard maple on sale cheap. Guess I’ll use maple, this is where my learning started. I had never used maple before but I thought (wrongly) that wood is wood right. I have used pine, poplar, birch, oak and walnut this shouldn’t be too much different right…..
Well after a bunch of cuts on my hands from sharp edges and a few trips back to the lumber yard for more wood as I found my table saw will not cut a square straight line and a few words that civilized people wouldn’t approve of. A huge thank-you to Gerry who has a good saw and a shaper to help with the raised panel doors. Here is the finished product.
Made of Hard Maple with Maple comib-core plywood.
finished with Watco Danish oil in dark walnut 3 coats then let it dry for 2 weeks and applied 3 coats of semigloss lacquer followed by a good coating of paste wax.
A good craftsman never blames his tools for a poor job, but I found out that good tools make a big difference in the ease in which a project can be accomplished :-)
