Good afternoon LJ’s,

Just got through with installing this cabinet vanity in it’s final home. Overall I hope they are satisfied with it as I really did not ever hear the complaints along with compliments before :) First the one person was happy however the other thought it was to high and was dissatisfied with it, then they were supposed to have the plumbing fixed but it wasn’t done so I the final thing was they really weren’t satisfied with the doors they wanted them on the opposite side :( overall the said they defiantly will call me back but I really after giving a discount to them due to having to notch it because of a plumbing problem I really don’t think I will be back ( on my own decision ) I hope you guy’s enjoy it better

I know what you mean I ran into a customer like that back in december. They complained and I made up my mind that if they call back I’m not going to do anything for them.

Some people ask for an item to be made or done and then they become what I call professional complainers we had them all the time in the hotel. They have the idea when setting out to complain to get the bill reduced so stay clear of them most customers are ok sorry for the rant they annoy me profusely . Some people would complane if they were hung with a golden rope. you get the last laugh, just tell them you are just to busy. dont let it get you down.

You have a great looking cabinet, some people just like to complaint.
My son wanted me to build them a TV cabinet and I said no because is wife is too much of a complainer, so they had it done by someone else and it was delivered to them today, they called me to have a look at it and I was the complainer they paid $800 unfinished and I would not give $400 for it, I shown her all the defects on it and she never said a word.
Now she wants to stain it and she does not have a clue how to go about it and I will not work on someone else work.
My work I do from A to Z if I buid it I finish it.

I now draw a sketch of anything being quoted with the basic dimensions and have the customer initial and date it. That way they can’t say they thought they were getting something different that what they really ordered. I also have samples of doors and drawer fronts which I list on the drawing.

Over the years, I have only had to show a few customer that they signed off on the project. I had one that called me back 4 years later telling me that the drawers were falling apart and when I got there it was not the same one that I built for them in the first place and they insisted until I pulled out the drawing and it wasn’t even close. Then they told me that they had had a fire and it must have been replaced by remodeler that they hired. “Right”.

For those chronic complainers rather than say no I just tack on about 75% more so the price is so high that if they still want me to do the project I get paid for listening to their complaining.

Looks like a great job. I’ve had similar problems but usually they work out. I do also draw not only a sketch but also a hand drawn 3D picture and make sure all is well. It helps some…

always try and turn your worst customer into your best friend and never burn bridges as they take a long time to build

I think you got off easy
