3/4” pine. Created 17” width by biscuit joining the straightest boards I could find. I don’t have a power planer or joiner yet so I relied on a hand planer in spots and used a straight edge and a straight router bit to clean the the edges of the boards for joining. Used a 5/32 biscuit joining router bit that worked really well for cutting the groove for the biscuits. This is a nice alternative to having to purchase a dedicated biscuit joiner if you already have a router.

Looks real nice. How did you attach it to the wall?

Using 4” lag screws and some wide fender washers I bolted a piece of left over 3/4 inch board onto the wall making sure I hit all of the wall studs I could. Then I placed the unit onto this wall mount and then drilled some screws through the top of the unit making sure to hit the board that I mounted to the wall.

It seems pretty solid.

Personally, I love wall-mounted furniture, because I have a roomba and like to let it get everywhere haha. Not to mention it’s easier on the eyes. Can I ask your inspiration for making this floating instead of letting it sit on the floor?
