Bathroom Storage Unit

This is actually an old project (I made it about 7 years ago) that I didn’t have any pictures of. The wife (then girlfriend) had seen a storage unit in a PB catalog. When she said she wanted to get it, I said I could build it for cheaper. The catch at the time was, we were living in a one bedroom condo. So this project was built in the kitchen (our countertop was the closest thing I used to a bench for this one).

As far as construction goes, it’s made of big box poplar sides and shelves, a pine dowel for the towel rod, and big box pine moulding for the top (the top is not hollow, you can put stuff on it). Joinery consists of just butt joints with finish nails and glue. The dowel is sunk in a quarter inch on either side. Nothing fancy. All painted in semigloss white to protect it from the abuse of hairspray and makeup it has seen over the years. After 7 years of torment, it still looks as good as the day I finished it.

the girlfriend must think so too

as she is now the wife

i bet you don’t get to use the kitchen much now

This has a really nice look to it. I really like the lines and design. Nice job.
