What to do on a beautiful day with friends? Build a log raft of course!!
After floating down the river on plastic tubes one day, we decided we had to build ourselves a log raft. So we went down to the river and started gathering logs. Our tools of choice were a hatchet, a knife and some twine to hold everything down.
We cleared an area to work on a nearby path, we chopped our three main support logs. Then we cut all the cross beams, found the best positions for them, and put on ties. Then two logs were used as tie downs on top to clamp everything together. In the end it turned out to be a pretty solid vessel.
The only thing left to do was to test it out, so we hauled it down to the river and it FLOATED!! I even got on and rode it a bit. We’re going back tomorrow with a couple floats to put underneath to keep it riding high and take it down the river!
