A 2" Fingernail plane...

OK, I’m lying. It is actually a little under 2 ½” long. A real pocket plane….a baby smoother…a tiny trim plane…I decided to call it a fingernail plane :^)

It would seem I have a nasty case of rhykanitis! Following all the recent plane talk on LJ’s, I had the urge to make yet another plane…

I’m just playing now, going smaller and smaller…

If it looks like I only make planes in Purple Heart, it is purely because I have a box full of off cuts. Don’t worry; I’m getting close to the bottom….I think I shall make the next one out of some African wood….

Be inspired and make more planes!

Yours in sawdust

It is a very nice looking little plane and at least you did not make a pink plane. : ^ )

I’m so far behind, it is going to take me months to catch up. I would also like to make a spill plane when I get a chance.

Awsome plane! If I live to be 100 I’ll never build all the projects on my list. This is one of them.

Thanks for sharing

I love it. I wouldn’t go anywhere without my “mini-plane” in my apron. Wonderful project.

Are you going to be like Martyn and see how small you can go? It would be something to see a 1/2” plane!

Hi brother,
That is one sweet little lady, and proud she is, even ready to show off a little shave.
I love her.
Did you use new metal here, l have a feeling the planner has gone on vecation?
Best thoughts,
Mads

Oh man… you and Mafe are killing me making all these cool planes as I am packing my shop into various boxes preparing for a cross-country move. I just took a huge load of offcuts down to the fire pile on the beach because I can’t take them with me and here you are making cute little planes from offcuts.

Glad you are having fun. I am hoping to join the ranks of the productive woodworkers soon, but I fear it will be a while.

That’s a nice looking plane! Do you store your purple heart projects somewhere special so they won’t oxidize?

I like that plane. It looks like something Dr. Seuss would use.

Nice plane. Did you base this off a plan?
