Okay, this is made from MDF which is woodish, and it took me all of about 1 min to build, so hard to call it a project, but I see jigs and the like in here all the time so I figured this is the best place for it.
I got a new group of planes for my B-day and got to gettin’ with them when I noticed two things. One, My bench top is not even close to flat, and to make it worse its made up of different pieces that don’t set right anymore, long story short its tricky to plane a board flat on a crooked bench. Two, I was trying all different kind of batten options to keep the board from sliding. That’s when I got this idea. It works great, nice flat surface, board has two fences which prevent any movement during planing and there’s even a nifty area behind the fence for my wax, winding sticks, etc.

I also threw in a pic of the said winding sticks, they’re made of wood (walnut and maple) and took longer than a minute to make, but not a lot longer. Thanks for looking.

Looks like a very usable solution. Have you built bench hooks and a shooting board yet?

I have built a bench hook and forgot to mention that the far end of the MDF thing serves as a easy shooting board since the fence goes all the way even with the right end of it. Not as good as a real shooting board but used it for 2 boards, both sides each, last night and it worked fine.
