Cherry Shadow Box

A client contacted me and indicated she wanted a cherry shadow box for her husband. And she wanted it in a “dark cherry” finish. Now I’ve never been a fan of darkening cherry artificially as I like the natural beauty of cherry and prefer to let it darken naturally. But she was a paying customer and I was determined to make her happy. So I ordered some General Finished Merlot and Dark Brown Dye Stains and some Chrles Neal Blotch Control. After a little experimenting to get the color right, I settled on what I felt was the dark cherry color my client wanted. I think it came out pretty nice. I shipped it of last week and am still waiting to hear from her as it’s not scheduled to arrive for a couple more days. Thanks for looking.

That’s a very handsome design. I really like the unique curves and the finish. It’s a strong, classic design and I like the numerous color combinations you’ve used. I’m sure your client will be very happy.

I like the simplicity of this one. I think it my favorite.

Well she finally responded yesterday and here is what she said -

“Pat, Wow, wow, wow! It looks amazing! I’m so sorry I was out of the country last week and just getting around to emails/responses. I have showed the shadow box to a few and they love it. I actually know of a few retirees that may be contacting you shortly! Thank you very much for such a great job! Jessica”

I guess mission was accomplished.

As an Air Force officer I’ve seen many many shadow boxes and this is by far the nicest I’ve seen. I take from the pictures it opens for a full display while a folded flage can be seen in the upper half of the opening.
