I made this post office door bank for my fiancé (at the time, now my wife), who collects banks. The wood is oak and the door is a real (decommissioned) post office box door. When I got it it had been painted green and it took me two weeks with various paint removers, wire wheels, etc to get it clean. The brass coin slot plate on top came from Penn State Industries.

Wow, wonderful restoration work. I also dislike it when good-looking metal like this gets covered with paint.

Very handsome. I’ve had my eye on these for a while, to protect my assets from a fiance’ looking for meter money:)
