Turned Mallets

I turned these mallets for use with chisels, both bench and carving. From right to left they are Solid Walnut, Solid Maple and Ipe with a Maple core. The Ipe mallet is very heavy, yet well balanced and is my favorite. The walnut is the lightest, with the maple falling in the middle.

heheh… Well, those pictures were taken just after they were made, 5 or 6 years ago. I’ll have to see if I can remember to take some new photos showing all the dings in them now. They get used regularly!

Goodness! They’re spectacular! The one on the right is knee weakeningly beautiful, but if I had to grab and run, it’s be the diminutive one on the far left:)
