I finished up this baby cradle about six months ago but just realized I never added it to my projects. The cradle is for my son who is now too old to sleep in it. He loves playing in it though and my wife and I hope to have another child soon that will get the chance to use it as well. I blogged about the construction on the site if you are interested in reading more. I got the plans from Jordan boat works and the construction is from white cedar and QSWO. Almost all of the work was done by hand although I did cheat a little and use a friends planner for the cedar; the oak was hand planed.

That’s a great cradle. Where can I find those plans?
By the way, with a boat for a cradle, the boy’s name wouldn’t be Moses, would it?
And, do you have the link for that blog on the construction?
I like, like, like.

David,
Thanks for the kind words. Glad you found the blog links and hope you enjoyed the build. I got the plans (and hardware) from Jordan Wood Boats at http://www.jordanwoodboats.com/home.cfm?dir_cat=5061. They have several versions of the concept. This is in the middle for ease of construction. As for my son his name is Ben, but we call him N.O.A.H. when he is missbehaving.

Beautiful cradle, it is really a sweet way to start life.
You should scale it up and make him a bed like this.
Best thoughts,

Thanks for the posting this project, better late than never. It is a very unique cradle, and beautiful work you did on it. Your family should be proud of it for years to come.
