Credit to pintodeluxe for the inspiration on this project. Quarter sawn white oak solid coffee table. Legs and runners made with 8/4, top made with 5/4 planed to 1 1/16”. Inset with two porcelain tiles from the big orange store. All types of joinery on this one. Through mortise and tenon for the bottom, dowel pins and half lap joints in the other places. Hand cutting the through mortises was the most fun part of this project. I discovered the invaluable rasp when cleaning up the mortises. Some walnut plugs, 1 coat of General Finishes Candelite Gel stain and 5 coats of General Arm R Seal poly made this coffee table exactly what I had pictured. I really like QSWO but the lumber yard doesn’t just give the stuff away unfortunately.

Nicely done! All hardwoods are ridiculus at regular home stores….need to find a local sawmill.
