Every time I visit my mom I try to make something to make her small space at the nursing home a little more usable. This time it was an auxiliary shelf to hook under her rolling table to double the storage space. It was made from plywood and pine laying around the shop and 2 strips of aluminum from an old Stop sign and bent to make a couple of hooks.I did make a couple of small wedges to jam in to hold it in place. It fit pretty good and she is a little happier coming up on 98 this year.

Well, aren’t you clever.
Now you have guilted me into doing that walnut and granite end table for my mother. She will light a candle for you!

Shopdogs, you crack me up! I didn’t mean to!! There might be some other old person who is the same situation that another LJ can make one for. It keeps things from falling on the floor. If she falls over again trying to pick it up, it might be a hip this time instead of an ankle.

Thats a great project. Projects for your mother are always fun, they appreciate even the simple pieces more than anybody else, It’s like bringing home that finger painting from kindergarten, no matter how small it is to you, they couldnt be more grateful.
Everyone remember, appreciate your mother, she’s the only one you will get.

What a great gift. I know she must appreciate this storage unit… Is that one of your rings she is wearing?
Thanks for sharing
