i have been thinking a long time about an additional workbench, and those white and green boxes were adding up and taking up space everywhere. so i solved both problems with a new worktable specifically designed for the festool system.
as you can see the workbench in the middle has 6 systainer drawers, a space for the vacuum and a stow away area for the tools in use, so they don’t have to be on the table.
the top is a torsion box with 20mm round holes like the festool mft.
there is an oak edge with a T-track in wich the festool track clamps fit, and also vertical beams with slots for the clamps.
on the left there is another table for the systainers to come :p, those drawers can hold 2 boxes.
the drawers have oak strips on them wich block the systainers in place. they extend long enough so the systainers can be opened.
the base is made of 18 and 12mm MDF, with a pine faceframe dominoed together. the table edge and drawer fronts are scrap oak.
the top with holes is incredibly usefull with the special clamps, i can’t believe how i did without for so long!
in the future i plan on building other things around it like a boom arm so the vacuum hose can come from above, and many other stuff, but the basics are done!

Festool galore! You’re a man who likes his tools; I can appreciate that. that’s a handsome secondary bench and the dogged top is really going to be nice. I’ve been considering some of those little dog vises.

Wow – that looks really neat. (Your little shop assistant is pretty cute.)
I do have a question. Could you have placed a slot on the edge of your shelf above the vac to push in the hose so that it is not hanging in front of the table when not in use? Just a thought.
I’m jealous of all that Festool green.

That is absolutely awesome, I think you may have added a project to my to do list. I’m on the Festool band wagon as well. Someone at that company must actually use the tools they make… ingenious.

Interesting. That is just an awesome set up. I notice that all your systainers are the new T-loc type (or whatever it is called). This implies that all your Festool purchases have been recent. That is impressive.

We just finished making a cabinet in wheels for our Festools…integrating it into your workbench is very nice. You just can’t beat the Festools brand of tools!

thank you for the nice comments,
i was pretty much anti festool even though i have had their vacuum and miter saw for some time. but a few months ago i got my first sander form them for my birthday, and i was sold. since them my collection has grown.
@Betsy, my intention is to eventually make an overhead “boom” arm with the hose and power cord hanging on an arm above the workbench. so no more hose and cables on the floor. the hose would go up the wall from behind the table.

Stopped to look at the bench. Looking at the pictures I noticed that you have a very nice shop. Looks like a bit of work went into it? Your shop assistant is pretty neat too. LOL
