Largest Bowl (so far)

This bowl is pushing my limits as far as equipment goes. It’s about 10.5” in diameter and stands 7.5” high.

It came out better than I expected when I realized that many of the staves were glued up with the grain running vertical in the bowl requiring turning across the grain rather than with the grain. You’d think after almost 6 years of turning those mistakes would be behind me, In any case sandpaper to the rescue and the surface came out pretty good.

As always the finish is Tung Oil

Fortunately, everything was pretty much in round and I pre-turn each level as I go so only the last level added is not perfectly round. However, I probably won’t try anything much bigger for awhile.

Looks very beautiful, I’m trying out my new lathe by need to get a hang on sharpening my tools.
