These CD cabinets were made to “match” an existing entertainment center. The material is cherry and the handles on the drawers are mahogany. These cabinets are a bit unusual in that all four sides are raised panels and finished so that any one of them could be the prominent side in the room.

Thanks for the nice comments. The finishing process took nearly as much time as the construction. I will admit that the finish really made the piece. People just can’t keep from rubbing them. I did not use any stain on the pieces. I used several sanding steps and finished at about 240 grit. I know that was a bit extreme, but….. I then put two coats of sanding sealer on. I sanded with 240 and 320 between coats. I then put three coats of satin polyurethane, again sanding between coats. Finally, I put a couple of coats of wax using some 0000 steel wool. That final step seemed to have done the trick. The surfaces turned out silky smooth.

Thanks for the comments on my project.
Your Cherry CD Twin Cabinets are very handsome. The hand work to finish each was well worth the effort.

Awesome work! I like the 4 sided solution to room placement.
