I had seen a bunch of display shelves here on LJ made from scrapwood designed to hold hotwheel cars. I had some slats from a futon bed so I made a shelf for my son. He has yet to put his cars on it yet.
The second project is a platform for a roasted pig. A friend of mine asked me to make it for a party he’s throwing this weekend for his daughter’s 5th Birthday. The frame is from an old bunk bed and the middle part is made from bamboo T&G flooring that I had left over. For the support of the middle part, I created “I” beams from salvaged 3/4” plywood strips that I picked up from a local cabinet shop. The pig will be on a large metal tray and usually ruins the table top that it is placed on, so this tray is meant to protect the table.

Nice job of reusing materials. I am a big fan of reusing cutoffs and other “scrap” materials.
Thanks for sharing.

Nice work!
A pig roast for a 5-year-old’s birthday? These are my kind of people!
