Kitchen Island Cart

This is my very first woodworking project. I completed it at my brother-in-law’s house using his table saw, circular saw, and router. Since this photo was taken, I added hardware to the drawer pulls and seasoned the butcher block top.

The top is 31 cuts of whitewood, the base is whitewood, and some birch plywood. I realize a butcher block top should be made of harder wood, but for starters this was a fun project and this island cart looks great in my house.

I purchased the plans for the island cart online. Search U-Bild Kitchen Island and you should be able to find them fairly quickly. I also bought the hardware package that was optional and it worked out great.

The entire project took about 6 weeks to complete with me going over to my brother-in-law’s house on most Saturdays and Sundays, and doing very little work on it during the week (if any).

Looks good and sturdy. I’d put that in my kitchen!

No worry about the hardwood top. That’s what they make Cutting boards for. In fact, you may make as you next project, a HARDwood cutting board for that island. Nice job, btw.
