Long time ago I found a lawn bowls ball in a second hand shop. I thought it was made of good black timber. I payed $1 and brought home. I mounted it on the lathe to turn it to a bowl. The smell was terrible, burning tyres. I found it was made of very hard rubber. It was left in the garden until few days ago when I decided to turn it to make few pens, only as experiment I cut it in two halves and managed to get four sets of pen blanks out of one half. The result is extremely beautifull and high quality pens. The smell is not there any more after polishing. So, another four rubber pens under way.

similar to the hard rubber telephones of old?

Very nice Idea, I guess I will be looking for the same.

Kind of neat. Good use of an old item.

I’m amazed no one said it but are these what one uses to write rubber cheques? LOL! Sorry couldn’t resist.

They are good looking pens and they sure have a unique story!

Recycle, recycle, recycle. Most everything I make is made from recycled materials- especially pens. Besides, most of my materials are FREE. Great job.
