Shadow bow that I made for a friends retirement from the Air Force. Strips are walnut with maple for the background and sides. Box is 23” wide and has a 9’6” X 5’ flag in it.

Well, done. It reminds me that I haven’t started the flag case for my Uncle. I love the idea of the sergeants insignia as the overall design. If you don’t mind, I might use bits of your design for my case.

Couple of quick questions: Is there a glass cover over the whole thing?Are the stripes solid or veneer?

Kenns, The glass is only in the middle covering the flag and medals the “V” under the flag is also under the glass. The lower stripes are strips 1/4 X 3/4 wormed in a steamer about ten minutes then glued and pressed with a jig the short stripes on the sides are solid.

I have always wanted one of these but it seems vain to put the time and effort into your own recognition. You are a good troop to have made this for your friend. Nicely done.

Is that a fuse crimper in there? That tool looks very much like the tool used to punch a hole in the blasting sticks where you’d mount the fuse…
