Project Information

Well I finally completed these Kevin Rodel design stickley sofa's learned a lot about fast glue ups. Still have a few touch ups on the finish now that it's back from the upholstering shop. If you are planning any builds that require foam or leather check out foamite in Toronto Canada they were a tremendous help along with perfect leathers, excellent customer service and able to supply all requirements. I must also thank Gerry's upholstering in Sudbury for all leather work and well worth the price. The pictures don't quite capture the colour of the cherry, the corbels are all made with salvage antique cherry so in person they appear quite darker. The mortises and tennon's are all secured with ebony plugs driven through. Complete instruction found in WWM but I can't recall the issue number try a Google search might help. If you need any more info please feel free to contact. Oh ya the leather is a buffalo hide almost looks like foot ball leather but thankfully softer.
Cheers

Nice project. These were on our short list, but we ended up with another style. After seeing yours, I'm thinking we maybe should have done these! Beautiful work!

Very nice. I'm thinking of doing a similar piece. I like the cherry.

The finish is a blend 1/3 poly, 1/3 tung oil, 1/3 BLO with a splash of Turpentine (similar to the Sam Maloof fiinish) applied like an oil with 0000 steel wool between each coat takes many coats but it is a forgiving finish with hand luster.
