O.K….... back to the jewelry boxes…..
I just love this Lacewood !!!
I don’t usually use black as a lining but in this case, I thought it really pulled in the Wenge accent in the lid.
12×8 x 4 Finished with Danish Oil and Black Bison Wax…..

Nicely done! Love the choice of woods. I have never worked with lacewood. How does it machine?

Woodenwizard——It machines very nicely and finishes great. Be careful of tearout and when you finish, be aware that it will not be “glass smooth” as you will actually feel the “texture” of the design in the wood. Still smooth, but just feels a little different. Very nice to work with.
Thank you all for the wonderful comments !

Great job….boxes are a wonderful way to practice and a great media to try different design methods. This one is a winner…the wood combination is exquisite….I have worked with Wenge a bit and find it a very unforgiving wood…especially due to the open fibers on the grain.
I like the lift out tray….and the lining does indeed bring out the color of the Wenge quite well.
I’ve not heard of black bison wax…at least my local providers do not have it. The finish here looks good too…might have to look around for a vendor.

reggiek – Black Bison Wax is made by “Liberon” and Woodcraft is one of the places that carries it….
