I have been a woodworker in some form for most of my life. When I was a bachelor, living in apartments, I liquidated most of my machinery. This stool was one of the first projects that I built while setting up shop in our house. The only power tool used on this baby was a circular saw to rough out the planks.

The joints are all mortise & tenon, and the seat is leather with a pine frame. (I could only afford a small piece of leather)

The finish is Varathane Crystal finish urethane.

Your signature speaks volumes for this project. You certainly didn’t make it any easier by only have a circular saw. Good job on the project.

Thanks for sharing.

shudder.. As a teen I spent most of my holidays building furniture with my father, we built the stuff up to a rough sanding for a wholesaler who would then finish them off and sell them.. Stools where my “specialty”, largely because I could easily work on my by myself, a scrawny 15 year old kid has a bit of trouble lifting a 6 person hardwood diner table and the material was cheap, so it didn’t cost too much when I stuffed up.. I can’t even begin to calculate how many stools I’ve built. The design was almost exactly the same as that, except I used table saw, thicknesseser, table router, large ( 9 foot) sander, sliding dowel table, jigs, oos, and glue. if I never make another, I’ll die happy. Nice stool though I’m sure it’s had many hours of use, I don’t even want to think about making one with only a circular saw!

Nice project – nice to see a project built as our forefathers would have built it (except the circular saw).
Well done.
