I needed a wastebasket for my home office so I decided to use some recycled wood. The case is made from an old shipping crate a friend gave me many years ago. (I think it is southern yellow pine) The trim is a scrap piece of padauk. Finish is General Finishes Clear Poly.

Very nice. I agree with Charlie. I don’t think I could bring myself to use it for its intended purpose.

I like the contrast of the woods. Nice job.

I love how just the addition of a bit of color on the edges from the padauk wood can make what would be a simple wastebasket into something that is a pleasure to look at. I have definately gotta remember to do that!

I’ve got the plans for an A&C wastebasket, but … really LOVE your design.

Outstanding look … and … it’s a trash bin, huh ? Wow !
