Browsing HD one day I saw this unique piece of pine and bought it not knowing what project I’d use it on. As I held onto it for a few months I decided to make my daughter a small jewelry box. Going off of an Andy Box I came up with this combination of Big box store pine, scrap blood wood, and some in the corner of the hardwood store big leaf maple.

The box’s top is a mixture of pine and big leaf maple with the splines made out of blood wood. The splines were cut using my spline jig http://lumberjocks.com/projects/47386. Thanks for looking!

A lovely box Brandon, I think pine is a much underused wood for fine woodworking. Your project should change that. Very nice photography too.

I like this combination of woods, well done. Your splines came out nice and clean. Also, your photos are great, which helps show off your nice work.

Bloodwood and pine, not something you hear every day:) It’s wonderful; I especially love the maple.
