Our first major job at Spunwood was just the sort of work I was hoping to get: framing local artwork with local wood.
James Hicks, the late uncle of the client, is the artist whose work is featured in these frames.
They are red oak with a 50/50 (mineral/tung oil) finish.

ooh! -those are so pretty! -that is really neat getting to frame art with art!
That looks like a lot of hard work, but worth it!
