I built this bench for my son. The requirements were few: match the width of his bed and make it sturdy. I checked off the first with my tape measure and checked off the second by using 1 3/8” oak butcher block material joined with deep, wide and tight dadoes and tenons. When he could Kyle helped with it.

Looks really nice. Wish I knew how to do that joinery. :-)

MasterSergeant,
Please borrow my idea, if it actually was my idea. We all learn from each other and I really cannot tell you if what I did with the bench was original or not. So, please help yourself.
My son loves that he can do calisthenics on it.
Enjoy.
