I was lucky enough to acquire Mahogany from another floor of the same building that the Walnut Desk project was made. The bed features 6 drawers in a captain style bed with 2 end table drawers and a lower shelf with baskets for storage. The upper unit features glass display shelves and center section with lighting on dimmers that are controlled by switches on either side for convenience. The headboard is padded leather featuring storage behind as well as below. I store 3 large suitcases under the headboard. At the foot of the bed a TV lift is installed concealing a 42” flat panel TV and av equipment. Mood/night lighting shines out from both sides of the foot board. All the wood was destined for the landfill. Some was trim and some of the wood was 3/4” solid flooring. Visit my site for more projects. www.wix.com/stazz23/wood1

Hey, you stole my bedspread!
Very nice. Great design. Excellent reuse of material. Sure wish I could fall into a score on mahogany like that.
Keep up the good work.

Purple heart is not a rare…or expensive wood …if you know where to shop. Purple heart is used for flatbed trailers by the military for hauling around tanks. This wood is hard, durable, strong, fast growing etc, etc. The trick is finding a depot that throws it away. A little research and you may find yourself a deal depending where you live.

Very, very nice. Excellent design and execution. The lighting is a sweet touch and often overlooked in this sort of project. Thanks for sharing your work with us. BTW…on the Mahogany score…I’m green.

Fantastic, I am so glad I looked at this at work and not in front of SWMBO. I would have had her getting more ideas to go with the ones she already has for me.
