I made this for my brother. The top “shell” is made of bubinga that has a waterfall grain. The bottom is stabilized box elder burl. The second uses the same top but the bottom is a piece of lignum vitae. The finish is shellac and wax. They are very heavy but with the cap posted it balances and writes like a dream. Thanks for looking

Wow thats nice. Did you buy the metal in kit form?
