Bought our first drill press table last week. Did an Internet search for Drill press table plans. Personally, I like plans that also have videos on youtube because I don’t always “get it” without someone telling me how to do something. This one has an entertaining video that explains the design really well. The plans for the table are also on the Internet so you don’t have to take notes from the video.
I added a T-track to the fence so that I can use stop blocks easily.
There are a lot of things I like about this design. The middle section is sacrificial and when I make the table I created three identical inserts.
I labeled the bottom of the extra inserts to keep them from being repurposed into other projects.
I also like the way that this design doesn’t require tons of T-track. Cutting a slot in the plywood that fits the T-bolt head and adding hardboard as the top with the bolt slot makes for easy track. The plans and video explain what I mean if you haven’t seen this method before.
This design is also forgiving of where the fence moves since the fence is slotted against the base. It seems like I always buy a pack of handles and T-bolts every time I got to Woodcraft or Rockler. I like making jigs and my 15-year old son likes using them.
