Constructed out of knotty alder. The base is held together through a combination of dovetail joints and dado dovetail slide (bottom shelf). The case has a 85 degree slant (cut everything at a 5 degree angle). First time using a stacked dado set, didn’t know how I wood-worked before without one. Angles are tricky but are fun once conquered, well at the least the easy angles. I will try to incorporate angled joints in future projects. I used a wipe-on “Old Masters” cedar stain and sealed it with a water based poly-acrylic finish. I am pleased with how it came out and I am excited to give it to my old man.

It looks real nice and I bet those angles are a challenge. Was it your own design?
