This was the original post with description…

The last couple of photos here are new and the last two show how I made the large ones. I turned the piece and finished the flare(edge), then parted it off and remounted it on a scrap piece as a jam fit, then used hot glue to secure and finished the other side.

Anyone need a pair???

Royce – I start at $25, plus shipping. If the wood is more exotic +3, concave or anything other than flat on the face +3. I’ll do the flare however you want, single, double, size of flare, shape of flare and overall length as a base.

I feel like making jokes about this…

-What kind finish did you use?.... Ear wax?
-Now you’ll never have to go looking for a coaster for your drink
-Ah, now I see where you keep your bench cookies
-If someone says “knock on wood” do people try to hit you in the head?

I do have to say this is my favorite. I’m going to have to remember that one.

There is most definitely a point of now return you just have to be safe and decide whats best for you when doing it. Mine are small enough that if left out they would actually close up within no time. I know this because I have done it before once. The human body is an amazing thing.
