” Was good friend of Mine “

Sorry !!! couldnt get that tune out of my head ,when I gave this Candle Holder it’s name !!

Was going to call it “RainForest” but then I thought of frogs , and thats when it all started !!! LoL

Ive been dabbling away from the warm colours on the candle holders & coming up with interesting effects !!

I really dig this one , because it’s different !!!

Sort of back to it’s youthful state when it’s was a young pup on the land !!

I think Ive found the formula for “Victoria’s Secret” for Timber !!!

O.M.G Im Rich !!!!!!! No ! hang on !! Woodworker !!! Broke !!#

How’d you achieve that frog green? Transtint? I could stare at it for hours, love it.

That does look good. And its a very interesting color to say the least. I’m with Al, I’d like to know how you got the color…. Also, I wonder how many LJs out there have a clue as to what song you are referring to. Of course I know, or I wouldn’t have said anything.

I never understood a single word he said
But I helped him a-drink his wine …

Very original. Nice work.

How I got that effect !!

  1. Step 1 Sprayed entire candle holder with Matt black ,including the top.
  1. Step 2 Sanded the “top” only, so that all cracks ,dots & wood indentations were blackened , ie they were below the surface being sanded.
  1. Step 3 With Acrylic water based art paints , Dark Green & Lime Green I applied it to the timber top with a moist cloth, dipping cloth into both paints & rubbing it into grain of timber, following the grain .
  1. Step 4 Once green paints were dry, I sprayed the candle holder with a can of Gloss laquer , this really highlights the colours to their vibrant state .

Hope this helps !!!

I am putting together a step by step blog with pictures , because everyone is asking how I get these effects.

You can even get the kids involved with this type of project ,
have entire family coming for mothers day lunch , so have been busy making candle holder blanks for everyone to paint themselves !!I will post their results next week !!

It’s easy & absolutley mind blowing the effects you get !!

Hope this helps as a start !!

Regards
Anthony

” You know he always had some mighty fine wine
Joy to the world, all the boys and girls
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me”

Hey JJ, does that qualify as knowing which song he was referring to?

godda – like the colors, it’s almost iridescent.

Very cool! I’ve been using acrylics for years painting and airbrushing. Autoair paint by Createx has a large selection of paint. Iridescent, candy, metallic, transparent, opaque, basecoat, ect. less than 1o/o voc.
