Speaker Stands

Project by Nick Boyd posted 671 days ago 260 views 1 time favorited 9 comments Add to Favorites Watch

Sadly this is the most recent project I have to show… I made them a few years ago in my dad’s woodshop shortly after he gave me the speakers in the picture for Christmas. They are solid cherry with simple butt joints and wood screws keeping it together. The finish is three coats of wiped on tung oil, and I’m really happy with the colour these have developed as they aged. Holding up speakers makes for easy finishing, since it doesn’t need to be heat or water resistant.

Nick, don’t apologize for your speaker stands not being a worthy project. They qualify as a project because you have pictures of them, and they are made of wood. I like them.

Cherry is my favorite wood. These stands make a very nice project and you designed these well. I am sure that you are somewhat apologetic because of the lack of shop time. It is difficult to squeeze some in when you have competition from work and family.

But now that you have posted a project hopefully this will provide an incentive to find some more shop time in the near term.

Looking forward to your next post.

thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the feedback guys! And sbryan55 is right – I’m not sorry about the simplicity of the project… what’s sad is that I haven’t had the chance to make anything new since I built these! This was due to the fact that I didn’t have a workshop while living in university residence. But all that is changing, since I bought a house earlier this year and I’m working on turning my garage into a shop. Actually my dad built me a beautiful maple and cherry workbench to get me started… I will have to get pictures of my shop up. Of course it’s winter time up here, so frequentely my fiancee and I disagree as to the function of the garage. She thinks it’s for keeping snow off her car…

Simple but a very nice design, and functional as well.

Nice little project. I have a friend who want some of these. I am going to point him to these.
