I wasn’t sure how to put together a variety of woods and get the knife slots to the right size, so I decided to make the block in layers. The outside is ambrosia maple, I then took four layers of sugar maple and glued it together. I dadoed the slots for the ziricote strips. I then cut pieces of white oak to space out the slots, then a slab of bubinga, glued it, cut it in half, glued the two halves, cut the angles, sanded, three coated of shellac and there she be.
