I decided to try something a little harder, a display case for my mother-in-law’s birthday. I used mainly Alder with Mahogany inset on the top and figured walnut on the inside of the top (this was also patterned to form a cross, another idea from FWW, but I was hoping it would be more visible). The Core if the top and bottom was 3/8” plywood, I wanted it to be as stable as possible. The rest was done with mirrors and glass. I also did the feet from an article in FWW. The hardest part for me was the door, in fact the whole thing was minutes from becoming scrap wood when I finally got the dimensions right.

I like the design. I build similiar cases from time to time. Looks nice.
