This simple project turned out to be very emotional for the person receiving it. I planned to give this to the owner of a westie about a month before I actually gave it to him. The dog died the next day after he received it. Just proves that a gift can really do wonders

Very nice. My daughter and her three kids have a Westie and that is one great dog. Good work and I am sure that your friend really enjoy it. What kind of wood did you use?

Looks awesome! My wife and I have a 3 year old westie and my grandma has a 10 year old one. Any chance you can pass a copy of the plans?

Nice work. Great detailing. What wood did you use for the face and how did you keep it so WHITE?
I have a friend who has two westies and have been meaning to supriser her, using this pattern, but want to be sure I use a white wood without staining, if possible.

I guess I have to answer with a point that many did not catch. I called it UNFINISHED WESTIE. That should have given it away. The picture was taken before a finish was put on it. I use spray laquer on my projects. If you put no more than 2 coats of finish on it , it should remain fairly white. I’ve been told that holly is the whitest of the woods, but I’ve not been able to find it for purchase. Until then I stick to aspen.
Have your say...
