This is not a very impressive piece, but I have created most of my other pieces with my old Porter Cable scroll saw I bought from Lowe’s. I knew it was on its last leg, so I have been saving up for a new saw. Just so happens that I ordered my new Excalibur saw last Friday and just wanted to make something simple while I waited for the new saw to come in. The girls at the office have said they wanted a clock in their shipping room and I remembered I had a Kathy Wise pattern for a clock. It should have been an easy pattern to make, but of course that’s not the way things turned out. The pattern called for a clock insert of 3 ½ and as it turns out, that size was very difficult to find. I ended up making all of the numbers and the clock face and just bought the clock works. I had about 4 more numbers to cut out and the old saw just gave out. I was able to finish it up with another saw, but it was almost like losing an old friend as many hours I spent behind that old Porter Cable. The new saw is due in tomorrow from Seyco and it is about five times as expensive as my old saw, but I hope it can bring me five times the enjoyment I got out of the old one. We will see, and I just might have to bury my old saw in the back yard as a memorial lol. I might be and idiot for putting any emotions into an inanimate object, but I don’t think I’m the only one.

This piece is made from lace wood, walnut, aspen, curly maple, cherry.

I dont think youre an idiot. lol. i know i have a real bond with all my tools especially the older ones. its like they become part of you the more you use them. i sure hate when anything happens to any of my tools. so….sorry to hear about your old saw…i hope you enjoy the new one….and last but not least….great clock!

Really nice looking clock and I am sure they will love it. Nothing wrong with having a bond with your tools! Well Done!
