Very nice! Is it mostly mahogany?

No as a matter of fact, there is no mahigany on it. Mostly Red cedar, ash, Pecan gunwales, and purple heart trim.

Nice work Dan, I’m guessing you did the camper to? Make your own lures? Bet the fish hide when you show up!

Nice, I have always wanted to do a cedar strip like that. What plan is it?

Thanks for all the compliments. It is a 17 1/2 ft long “redbird” pattern from Newfound Boatworks in New Hampshire. It weighs 65 # and took about 150 hours.
Les, I do make my own flies for fly fishing!

Nice. Wooden canoes are so cool.
I spent a week in the Boundery Waters. It is something I will remember all my life.

Beautiful, I’ve always wanted to build one, but someday maybe.

I ripped a bunch of Redwood strips for a friend once, but that’s as close I’ve gotten.

Great watercraft… it’s just the kind of project that sits in the back of my mind and won’t go away. After looking at your other projects, I assume you’ll be posting photos of your fishing rod soon?

Ahhh! The boundary waters of Minnesota. I answered the call that set my life direction on a week long trip in the boundary waters. I’m not sure I have been in a canoe since, but the yearning to build a canoe like yours and get back on the water has never left me. Some day.

Beautiful!

Thanks for sharing
