Nice job, I like the look and colors of the piece. Is the top just two pieces from a book match?

Well yes, but I didnt do a veneer. I bought it that way haha. It is 3/4 inch baltic birch plywood. I then scored it down the middle on a table saw to give the impression it was two planks. Then I just filled the scored groove with putty.

Ok, wait. So you scored it down the middle. So it is one piece or two piece?

Oh, I got caught up about the top and forgot to tell you it’s a nice desk. I like the way you play with colors on your pieces. On this desk for example, you’ve done something I want to try but never have the courage. You’ve made it look old and new at the same time. The drawers look like what some around these parts call “distressed”.

Thank you. Yeah, for every finish I’ve made up that looks good, there are 10 pieces of furniture I ended up having to completely redo as a result of it being on my experiments. I say go for it! As long as it isnt for a customer on the first attempt haha.

As far as the top, its one piece of 3/4 inch birch plywood, but I wanted to give the look as if it were two pieces joined together. In actuality, I just lowered my table saw blade to a 1/8 of depth and scored a small cut the whole length of plywood and puttied the cut.
