About a couple weeks ago my wife and I were looking for a new bed for our 4 year old daughter and we found one online with build-in storage below it. But it cost close to $2,000 bucks. So I designed one in Auto CAD 3D and the second picture shows what I came up with and the first picture is how it ended up. I still need to finish putting on the edge banding since our local Menard’s won’t have any more until the end of the month. The whole thing is made from melamine and glue and screws. It weighs approximately 600 pounds or so.

Nice! I have thought about doing something like that for my oldest. It looks good and I really like the storage. You know you can’t have enough storage when you have kids!
How many sheets did it take? I am assuming they were 4×8’s.

Frogfive – First off thanks, it took about a week to build it and a couple more days to design it. It took 6 sheets and yes they were 4×8 sheets.
Mijohnst – Thanks! She loved it.

Nice job. Excellent way to add storage to a bedroom. I’m sure your daughter loves it.
Be sure to sand those edges. They will slice through skin like razors. I know first hand.

Excellent job, i’m sure she will love it.
One suggestion though. Carpet the steps. Should be easy with just a few steps and that landing on the top. They can be slippery with just socks on and the edge of the step can do bad things to shins of the little ones.
