Build buit-in cabinet in modular sections to inset. Cut to fit is slow and time consuming for the extra added strength. MikeMN

Pretty nice! I can see that you are not lacking any power outlets.

The entire basement trim is made from wormy & knoty oak. The walnut hearth was too wide for my planner, so I had to had plane the finish & fit. The walnut is a french polish finish with amber shellac. The stone is a field stone product. Ceiling is knock-down. Natural slat tile located in front of a real wood buring fire place. The shelving has adjustment with pins. The Mantel is not complete, but will be a craftsman style walnut to offset the oak. MikeMN

That is a wonderful project. As I have often said you can’t have too much finished wood in a house (besides the more wood you have the less painting there is to do).

OK, all those outlets spells “Entertainment Center” to me. But what are your intentions with the space above the fireplace? Wormy and knotty oak, and walnut make for beautiful trim. Gives it kind of a rustic appeal, ya know? Keep us posted!
