I saw a demonstration at a local Rockler store by a member of a local turning club. So I came home and look what I did. The surprising thing is… THEY WORK!! I have made about a dozen of them and gave them away to friends with kids. They are a great project to use small scrapes and to give me a excuse to do some turning!

Beautiful tops! Love them…..also love the wallpaper in the background. Couple questions:
What wood did you use for the darker colors? Purpleheart?
Any info on the wallpaper?

Wildflower, the darker color is purple heart, then jatoba, and walnut. The back ground isn’t wallpaper it is screen that we made for our fire place… It is cloth.. Thank you for your wonder comments.
