These bowls are made from a pin oak tree that was cut down at my mom’s place. The logs sat on the ground for over a year with the end grain down which I believe led to the spalting. The first bowl is 3 3/4” x 6 1/4”. It shows some very interesting grain. Finished with three coats of wiped on shellac and all three stages of the beal buffing system. The second bowl is 2 1/2” x 4 1/2”. It too shows spalting but deep inside, shown in the final two pics you can see some truly awsome figured grain. It wraps around itsself like some of that folded Christmas candy you see at the holidays. This bowl is finished with Mylands.
